In June 2012, the Intellectual Asset Management’s newest publication, IAM Patent 1000 – Guide to the World’s Leading Patent Practitioners, has recognized our Intellectual Property group. Our Firm was ranked as Silver for Litigation and Licensing, and Recommended for Prosecution.

Benchmark Canada
Heenan Blaikie has been ranked as a “recommended” firm in the first annual edition of Benchmark Canada, where in we can read that “the firm is noted for having a ‘large and interesting litigation practice,’ with a number of litigators across the province garnering peer and client praise.”

Managing Intellectual Property
In 2011, as in past years, Heenan Blaikie was recognized by Managing Intellectual Property in the areas of Patent Contentious, Trademark Contentious, and Trademark Prosecution. In 2010, we were named the Canadian Patent Contentious Firm of the Year. The award recognized Heenan Blaikie's Patent group trial victories in Sanofi-Aventis v. Novopharm (ramipril) and Eli Lilly v. Novopharm (olanzapine). In 2007, we received the award for the “Patent Case of the Year” for Canada. The magazine’s awards and rankings recognize firms that have demonstrated outstanding performance, based on independent research and peer evaluations.

Lexpert 2010 Zenith Awards
Heenan Blaikie’s Pro Bono Legal Service Initiative (PLSI) won the 2010 Lexpert Zenith Award in the “Local Community Pro Bono” category. The Lexpert Zenith Awards honour leading Canadian law firms, in-house departments and law students who commit their time, skills and mentorship to a diverse and valuable range of pro bono activities.
The PLSI is led by a team of associates in the Toronto office and provides legal services on a pro bono basis to residents of the Kingston-Galloway area of Scarborough. The Kingston-Galloway area is one of thirteen ‘priority neighbourhoods’ identified by the City of Toronto as requiring increased investment and support.
