Patrick Molinari FRSC, joined the firm in 1998 and brings to his Health Law and Regulatory and Public Law practice the experience of an exceptional career in academia. Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Montréal since 1977, he was director of the Centre de recherche en droit public (Public Law Research Centre), Associate Dean and then Dean of the Faculty, and finally Vice-Rector of administration and finances at the Université de Montréal. In 2011, he was appointed Professor Emeritus for his contribution to the broadening of the University’s reputation.
Co-author of the primary reference work on Quebec health law, Mr. Molinari has also published many annotated versions of the Act respecting Health Services and Social Services. Always very active in teaching and research, Mr. Molinari has contributed to more than fifty works on health and fundamental rights. He has specific interests in the development of health care systems and the emergence of new public or private care-providing structures as well as in new biomedical technologies.
Founding president of the Société de médecine et de droit du Québec, Mr. Molinari was chairman of the board of the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal from 2004 to 2012; he is also a member of many Quebec, Canadian and international organizations and committees in the fields of health care, medical practice and public health. He maintains ongoing relations with international partners associated with the development of major health care systems and biomedical technology projects. Since 2001, he has been counsel to the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice.
Acknowledged for his expertise, Mr. Molinari has often been a guest speaker at conferences and has moderated seminars in Canada and abroad. He was named 2013 Lawyer of the Year in Health Law by The Best Lawyers in Canada (Woodward/White).
Mr. Molinari has been a member of the Royal Society of Canada since 2000.
