Jeffrey Goodman
 

A lawyer and mediator, Jeffrey Goodman focuses his practice on employment litigation, human rights, labour law and occupational health and safety law. He is the past leader of the Toronto Labour and Employment practice group and recently completed several terms on the firm's National Management Committee. Jeffrey is a member of the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario’s Practice Advisory Committee and is one of a select group of Ontario Lawyers listed in the International Who’s Who of Management Labour and Employment Lawyers.

Jeffrey advises clients on a wide range of employment and labour-related matters and regularly appears before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, all levels of courts in Ontario, the Labour Relations Boards, and various other administrative tribunals. He also acts as counsel and advisor to corporations and insurance companies on issues such as wrongful dismissal, directors’ and officers’ liability, and employee class action lawsuits. Jeffrey acts as an expert on Canadian employment law in international and domestic employment litigation.

A frequent public speaker, Jeffrey regularly chairs conferences on employment, human rights and labour-related matters. He is the co-author of A Guide to Alternative Work Relationships (Canada Law Book) and the coordinating editor and a contributing author of the employment, labour, human rights and privacy law chapters of CCH’s Ultimate Corporate Counsel Guide. He has also authored and co-authored numerous papers and articles on a wide range of employment and human rights issues for legal journals, magazines, newspapers, as well as for legal, accounting and human resources conferences. Jeffrey has recently co-authored the co-ordinated employment chapter of the Employment Law Review, an international treatise published by Law Business Research.

Jeffrey is often quoted as an expert on employment, human rights and labour law issues, including employee class actions, by the Ontario courts and in the press, namely in The National Post, The National Post Business Magazine, The Toronto Star, Lexpert Magazine, The Lawyers Weekly, Law Times, Canadian Retailer, Workplace News, Corporate Legal Times, InsideCounsel.com, OHS Canada, and by the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. He has also appeared on Report on Business Television (ROBTv).

Jeffrey teaches employment law at Queen's University Faculty of Law, and has completed the Program of Instruction for Lawyers Mediation Workshop presented by the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School.

Jeffrey sits on the Canadian Board of Advisors of Generations On Line.
